This project consisted of over 1000 sections developed over three stages (Sovereign Palms, Sovereign Greens and Sovereign Lakes). After the 2010/2011 earthquakes there was a fair amount of political pressure to keep Kaiapoi populated, we responded and deployed a large amount of resource to Sovereign Palms to speed up the development.
This site had been identified as a site of cultural significance, before work begun we worked closely with the local Iwi to ensure we were aware and respectful of their heritage and values. Observers and archaeologists were engaged to inspect every bucket of sand overturned and to log any discoveries.
Drainage works consisted of installing storm water, a deep sewer and a pump station all in running sand. Stormwater retention basins were also constructed. To improve ground and lateral stabilisation we impact rolled sections, improving their stability from TC2 to TC1. During the Lakes stage our survey crews completed submarine surveys of the three lakes.
Our crews completed the roading, utilities and landscaping all to a very high standard. The inclusion of palm trees and statement entranceways gives this subdivision a very high-class feel, which adds to the quality of the finished product.
